Christian Aid Week book sales

March 2017

Christian Aid Week means a lot of things in Scotland. And book sales is definitely one of them.

Bird's eye view of the inside of the sale

Since the first sale at St Andrew's and St George's West Church in 1974, Christian Aid Week in Scotland has become increasingly synonymous with book sales.

Saturday 13 May will see people queuing round the block once more in order to get a first look at the wares available on George Street as soon as the sale's doors open at 10am.

And across the city at Morningside United Church, the Holy Corner book sale, which last year raised more than £18,000, will also open at 10am the same day.

This year, the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church, located on Nicolson Square, is also joining the fun and is launching its first book sale for Christian Aid Week too. So now bibliophiles in the capital will have a third port of call on this busy day.

Luckily, refreshments will be available to tired browsers on the opening day of all three sales, and throughout the week at George Street and Nicolson Square.

For more details of the book sales' opening hours, see our local events listing.

Other book sales will be taking place in Falkirk (22-28 May 2017), Aberdeen and elsewhere too.

Wherever you are in Scotland, if you are donating or buying books at one of the sales, or helping with the organisation of these great events, thank you!
