In Their Lifetime Appeal has an ambitious goal to raise £25million over the next 10 years to invest in a number of pilot projects to combat poverty.
These projects will challenge our partners to be bold and creative, to explore new ideas and technologies and to seize opportunities to take risks for transformative change.

Projects for entrepreneurs
Our existing projects demonstrate what can be achieved by partnering philanthropy with innovation. We know the model of In Their Lifetime works, but to do more we need to raise more funds.
We need over £5 million to fund a number of exciting and very ambitious projects including:
Burundi: coffee market value chains
Project cost: £1,000,000
Expansion of the Burundi Coffee Market: ITL is helping to drive cooperatives to get the better deal for small scale-farmers and lead on changing the sector.
Sierra Leone: power to women
Project cost: £300,000
Scaling up previous work - transformation of the chieftaincy system - to bring power to women through challenging social norms to achieve greater women’s participation in governance and give them a greater voice across the country.
Africa: energy efficient cookstoves in Malawi, Ethiopia and Mali
Project cost: £1,000,030
Tackling climate change, improving health and income generation through environmental energy efficient cookstoves markets.
The In Their Lifetime appeal isn’t about growing the organisation for growing’s sake. It’s about making Christian Aid more efficient and impactful in the fight against poverty.
It’s about challenging ourselves to do things differently, learning from one another, and transforming how we tackle poverty. Over time, the new ways of working trialled with In Their Lifetime funding can be absorbed into Christian Aid’s wider work.
