A good number of Bangor University students who come from Ghana joined the latest effort by Emaus Church, Bangor, to raise funds for the Ghana appeal.

Throughout 2016 the Baptist Union of Wales have been fundraising for the work of Christian Aid’s partners in the west African country. Maternal health is the focus of the appeal and this in a country where some 380 mothers die giving birth each year - in 100,000 live births.

The members of Emaus have been busy organising several events throughout the year, including a very successful sponsored walk. In this latest event, the students were invited to an evening of Ghanaian food tasting and a sum of over £200 was raised towards the appeal.

Incidentally, Emaus is the new name of the church formed by the union between Penuel and Pendref churches in Bangor. Christian Aid Cymru wish the two congregations well as they now journey together as one, and doing so in the company of the risen Lord.
